Holy Smokes No. 1

A smoky, layered riff on the Manhattan with bourbon as the base. Cardamaro adds gentle bitterness, Benedictine brings herbal sweetness, and a touch of peated whisky infuses campfire smoke. Chocolate bitters ground it all with a dark, mellow finish. Sophisticated and a little dangerous—like a velvet smoking jacket in a glass.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 ½ oz (45 ml) bourbon whiskey
  • ½ oz (15 ml) light vermouth amaro, Cardamaro
  • ½ oz (15 ml) Benedictine
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) peated single malt whisky
  • 2 dashes of STB chocolate bitters

METHOD

  1. In a mixing glass, combine the ingredients
  2. Stir until chilled
  3. Strain into a chilled Nick & Nora glass
  4. Garnish with an orange twist
